The Charleston Barbershop Chorus will start the 2007-08 concert season with a new choral director, David Box, formerly of Cleveland, OH. Box, age 43, has several years musical performance experience starting from when he was five years old. He has been involved in numerous organized groups, which include gospel and barbershop quartets, and has been a church Choral Director for 15 years.
Box's nearly 12 years of experience as a barbershopper have included being the Associate Director of the Cascade Chordsmen of Elyria, Ohio for ten years while simultaneously singing for four of those years in The Alliance Chorus of Columbus, OH, a perennial top ten international finisher. In addition, he is a well-recognized vocal training coach for choruses and quartets. Box has held most of the chapter leadership positions and was a membership of the Johnny Appleseed District House of Delegates to round out his understanding of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
