Magictones Quartet Page

The Magictones were originally formed in 1971. The original members were Bill Beck (Lead),
Ken Williams (Tenor), Jim Ratledge (Bass), and Doby Gillis (Baritone). Doby moved away and was replaced by
Duncan Padgett. Duncan was later replaced by Julian Craven. When Ken Williams died, Julian swiched to tenor,
and Bob Duncan sang baritone. The quartet retired in 2001.
At that time Bill Beck and Jim Ratledge had sung together for 30 years. The quartet had a comedy routine and made
thousands laugh, giving the quartet much joy. They sang for such notables as Barbara Bush, General Alexander Haig,
Kitty Carlisle, and Elizabeth Dole. They sang at many conventions, all of the retirement
homes and TV teleramas for 23 years.
